Gender stereotypes are preconceived ideas about what a woman or a man should do or what role they should perform based on their characteristics. Stereotypes can be both positive and negative. For example, limiting girls from pursuing careers in STEM fields because they lack a “math brain” or “math is for boys” is an example of a negative stereotype.
